Right now is the perfect time to start our program and complete the requirements to start your dream job this fall. If you’re ready to become a teacher in Michigan, just follow the steps below.
If you haven’t already, submit your application. A Program Advisor will call you to conduct a phone interview and assist you in choosing the endorsement area(s) that best match your skills and interests.
Send your official transcripts to Michigan Teachers either by mail or by eSCRIP-SAFE (if offered by your institution) as soon as you submit your application.
To be eligible for Interim Teaching Certificate, you will pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) that corresponds to your desired endorsement area. Our expert program advisors can guide you through this process.
Complete and receive documentation of valid CPR/First Aid certificate.
Prepare yourself for the classroom online, at your own pace. You will log into your training and begin the Preparing for the Profession module to get started.
Use our job search resources to help you prepare – submit your resume for review, attend our webinars, follow our guide to preparing your portfolio, and practice interviewing using our sample questions.
Apply for the Interim Teaching Certificate through the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS) of the Michigan Department of Education.
Start your first year teaching with full support. Once you are hired, you will begin teaching with full pay, full benefits, and full support. You receive guidance from your Michigan Teachers Field Supervisor, an experienced educator who will visit your classroom 3 times throughout the year and is always on-call to answer your questions.
