On the Road to Get Hired
Full Speed Ahead!

On June 22, the Nevada Department of Education amended the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC), offering teacher candidates two great benefits.

The first update lends assistance to current Conditional License holders:

Any Nevada teacher on a Conditional License is granted an automatic extension! The new date for a license due to expire between 03/01/2020 and 09/29/2020 has been extended to 9/30/2020. Once the new expiration date arrives, candidates who have not yet requested a six-month extension may request another extension, up to twelve months. Read NAC 391.077 to learn more.

The second update applies to both prospective and currently enrolled Nevada Teachers candidates working to earn their Conditional License:

Governor Sisolak has signed a regulation amendment, allowing candidates to become eligible to receive their Conditional License without having to pass the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (Praxis Core) exam and the Praxis Subject Assessment exam (for Secondary Teachers). There has truly never been a more fortuitous time to become a teacher, but you must act fast! As of October 20, 2020, the Praxis Core exam waiver will be rescinded! Take advantage of this limited opportunity before it’s gone. Fall 2020, you can be hired as a teacher before passing your Praxis Core exam! Read NAC 391.056/391.057 to learn more.
