We\u2019ve been working hard to give you the training you need to become the teacher they all need.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-174475 alignnone\" src=\"\/media-tx\/HNA-03.png\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>As we continue our mission together, it\u2019s time to tackle the next issue \u2013 What can be done to address the needs of all? Wherever you are in your teaching journey, whether you\u2019re a casual lurker, dream of becoming a teacher, are currently studying to become a teacher, or if you\u2019re already a teacher, you\u2019re probably aware that there is an ongoing teacher shortage. In fact, all 50 states report teacher shortages, meaning North Carolina is no exception.<\/p>\n<p>The teacher shortage is real \u2013 there\u2019s no dispute. Teachers of Tomorrow has worked diligently over the past 15 years to address this serious issue. Let\u2019s circle back the small word packed with a big significance: <i><strong>all<\/strong><\/i>. If serving the needs of all is the goal, we need to start by providing teachers to the populations who need them most. Within the teacher shortage in North Carolina, some areas are critically short. These areas are deemed \u201chigh-need subject areas\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-174476 aligncenter\" src=\"\/media-tx\/HNA-04.png\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Make yourself more marketable as a teacher by adding or pursuing a high-need field! These positions are so greatly needed, you may find yourself one of the only qualified candidates. This could be the ticket to your immediate hire. For starters, high-need subject area teachers typically earn higher pay, get hired faster, and have job security. <em>Read more about the benefits here.<\/em> Let\u2019s take a brief walk through each of the subject areas on the list:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elementary Education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you love working with children, help prepare them for the future! You can help them learn core subjects and skills such as reading, science, and mathematics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Exceptional Children<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Becoming an Exceptional Children teacher is arguably one of the most rewarding careers. Exceptional Children teachers work with students who have a disability. The objective is to ensure that curriculum is accessible for these students who learn differently from their peers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Language Arts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a Language Arts (LA) teacher, you will help your students learn English through various subjects and activities which incorporate reading, speaking, and writing. Share your passion for language and literature with your students by becoming their LA teacher!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Studies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Is historical fiction your preferred literary genre? If so, you may be inclined to teach Social Studies. STEM stands for <strong>S<\/strong>cience, <strong>T<\/strong>echnology, <strong>E<\/strong>ngineering and <strong>M<\/strong>athematics. It is important because teacher shortages are reported for each subject area. The remaining two subject areas on our high-needs list fall under the umbrella of STEM. Read on for a brief overview of each.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mathematics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The key responsibility of a mathematics teacher is to teach general and advanced math topics to students. There is an important difference between knowing how to <em>do<\/em> math and knowing how to <em>teach<\/em> math.
