Choose from An Extensive Selection of Licensure Areas toPursue Your Dream Career
As required by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE), all candidates seeking Educator Licensure must take and pass a Pearson CORE exam and/or Praxis ETS exam. The specific exam you take will depend on which area you are seeking licensure.
The IDOE is officially transitioning from the Pearson CORE exams to the ETS Praxis exams. What does this mean for you? Starting 7/1/2021, the IDOE and Indiana Teachers will start accepting Praxis exams for subject areas currently approved by the IDOE. The IDOE and Indiana Teachers will accept either the Praxis or CORE exams taken between 7/1/2021 – 8/31/202. Beginning 9/1/2021, the IDOE and Indiana Teachers will only accept Praxis exams moving forward. View our Pearson CORE to ETS Praxis blog for detailed information.

Let Nothing Stand Between You and the Classroom
In order to become eligible to teach, it is required by the Indiana Department of Education that you obtain your Youth Suicide Prevention Certificate. This may be completed online.
In addition to your Youth Suicide Prevention Training, you must also obtain your CPR/AED/Heimlich Certificate*. This must be completed in-person.
*Effective April 14, 2020, candidates may be issued their Transition to Teaching Permit without earning a CPR/AED/Heimlich Certificate, granted all other program requirements are met. This temporary allowance by the Indiana Department of Education is in place due to in-person facility closures. We encourage you to pursue a blended CPR training option.
