Interesting day at the Indiana House of Representatives where they voted unanimously to eliminate the Indiana CASA teacher test through an amendment to Senate Bill 438.

This is a really big deal for teachers going through the Indiana Teachers program who already have a degree from an accredited institution. They always ask – isn’t that good enough to show that I have basic skills that the CASA is supposed to demonstrate?

We say yes.  Basic skills test take up too much time, money and sometimes effort with no real impact on improving teaching.

So we applaud the Indiana House Education committee and will keep you posted on the progress of the bill!
