The amount of time it takes to become a certified teacher with Teachers of Tomorrow depends on the individual. Nevada Teachers of Tomorrow is an online, self-paced, alternative teacher certification program. This means that individuals can work through the training at their own speed, something that a more traditional program does not offer. What are the requirements to become a teacher in Nevada?

In order to become a teacher in Nevada, individuals must obtain their bachelor’s degree, as well as, take part in a teacher preparation program. It is the individual’s choice to participate in a traditional program or an alternative teacher certification program. Nevada Teachers of Tomorrow is an alternative teacher certification program that consists of a quality, self-paced curriculum, making it great for those who need a more flexible schedule.

Can I become a high school teacher through this program?

Yes, you can become a high school teacher through this program! Secondary teachers (Grades 7-12) must take the Nevada Praxis Subject Assessment before they are able to be licensed in a specific subject. Each subject requires a different test, and the subjects you can teach range. If you are interested in teaching high school, the subjects you may become certified in are Biology, Mathematics, General Science, English Language & Arts, Social Studies, and Spanish.

What courses can I teach after I complete the program?

There are a variety of courses that you can teach after you complete the program. Nevada Teachers of Tomorrow offers elementary teachers the opportunity to take the Praxis Elementary Multiple Subjects Test (5001), and secondary teachers the option to take subject assessments. These assessments cover Biology, Mathematics, General Science, English Language & Arts, Social Studies, and Spanish.
