More than 400 hours of educator training is offered to ensure you learn all of the skills and strategies necessary to be a confident and successful teacher.

Following are sample courses completed prior to entering the classroom:

  • Preparing for the Profession
  • Meeting the Needs of All Learners
  • Communication and Collaboration
  • Elements of Effective Lesson Planning
  • Components of Effective Instruction
  • Differentiating Instruction

During the Internship Year, you will complete approximately 100 hours of comprehensive coursework covering all aspects of literacy. The remainder of the coursework while you are in your first year focuses on methods of teaching content for your grade level.

Comprehensive Training in Two Phases

Arizona Teachers coursework is divided into two phases. Phase I: Classroom Readiness Training is completed before entering the classroom and consists of teacher training coursework and field work. The field work consists of introductory classroom experiences which involve reflective observation of EC-12 students, teachers, and campus staff members engaging in educational activities in a school setting. Phase II: Excellence in Teaching and Learning is completed during your Internship Year. The Phase II coursework focuses on literacy and methods of teaching content for your grade level.
