Step 1: Apply! Let us let you in on a secret – deciding to teach is the first (and perhaps biggest) step, so you’re already on your way. This isn’t a decision to be made lightly, and we couldn’t be more excited to join you on your journey. Our dedicated team is here to encourage you every step of the way. Apply now! Here’s what to do next:
Step 2: Enroll. First things first: you’ll need to complete an enrollment application. It’s easy. It’s free. It’s right here (link). To help you prepare, you’ll eventually need a copy of your bachelor’s degree in your application. If you have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have submitted your application, one of our trained Enrollment Advisors will reach out to you to help you create a personalized plan which will encompass all the steps required for you to earn your certification. Now that you’ve applied to the program and chatted with an advisor, you’re ready to move on to the next step.
Step Three: Become Eligible. It’s time to hunker down and begin your online studies. We know life can be unpredictable, which is why our comprehensive online training is designed to prepare you on your schedule; you’re in control. Still, working a 9-5 job? No problem. Weave in a couple of hours in the evenings or on weekends, and you’ll be finished in no time. Looking to break the world’s record of the fastest certified teacher? We love that too. Either way, find the balance that fits your schedule.
Once you complete your training, which usually takes somewhere between 4-6 weeks, it’s time to step away from the computer screen and into the classroom.
Step 4: Start Teaching. The online coursework helps to build a solid pedagogical foundation. This next step helps you transition from a teacher in theory to a teacher in practice. After receiving your alternative certificate, you are ready to start teaching. Alongside teaching, you’ll also work toward complete Arizona state exams.
This is a big step. Your first year will allow you to teach in your classroom while earning full pay and benefits. For any bumps along the road, you’ll have a Program Supervisor to help smooth things over. Consider this person your teacher guru, dedicated to helping you make it to the finish line. Take advantage of working with a master teacher; they’re there to help.
Step 5: Earn Your Certificate. After a year teaching your classroom, with the guidance of your Program Supervisor, you’ve made it. This is no small feat. Pending the completion of all requirements, you can now apply for your Standard Professional Certificate. Look in the mirror and meet Arizona’s newest teacher. Ready or not, here you come.
