There will soon be a new route to become a teacher in Arizona! Arizona Teachers of Tomorrow is on the consent agenda for the Arizona State Board of Education meeting on January 29, 2018.
The Arizona teacher shortage is well documented and Teachers of Tomorrow is very excited to launch our program in the state to help solve that shortage. It is also a real step forward for alternative teacher certification to be on the consent agenda for a state board meeting. This is pretty much a first for me and I am very happy to see that it is no longer controversial.
It was SB1042 in the 2017 legislative session that allowed the Arizona State Board of Education to determine if programs like ours met the standards for Arizona teachers and could approve the program. This great legislation from Senator Allen, Senator Burgess and Representative Paul Boyer expedited the process to approve programs to help solve the teacher shortage. We truly appreciate their efforts.
We will keep you posted on the continued progress – but we are on to Arizona!!!
