Temporary Certificate to Teacher Certification
To qualify for a Teacher’s Certification, a candidate will need to teach for a total of two years at an accredited Florida school. Certificate permit holders can use up to one year of their teaching experience toward this requirement. Florida teachers are required to have a permit or certification on the first day of the school year to remain compliant. If you’re enrolled in a transition to teaching program, you are qualified for a transition to teaching (three-year, non-renewable) permit. If you are not enrolled in a transition to teaching program, you should enroll at least two weeks before your school’s start date to ensure qualification for the transition to teaching permit. If you are not able to qualify for enrollment in a transition to teaching program and will be employed as a teacher during the 2019-2020 school year, please review the Florida Department of Education’s Temporary Certificate webpage to review requirements for a Temporary Certificate.
