We recommend beginning your job search, as soon as you completed these tasks. We’ve compiled a list of job search resources to help. If you have finished these three items, it is time to search for a teaching job! We recommend updating your resume and tailoring it to each position for which you apply.
*Please note: Effective April 21, 2020, candidates may be issued their Initial Teacher Certification without completing a First Aid/CPR course, granted all other program requirements are met. At this time, you will need to complete your MOECS Interim Teaching Certificate application. The application is $160 and must be paid to the MOECS. You will also be required to submit fingerprints to undergo a Federal Background check.
Once you are hired and have obtained your Interim Teaching Certificate, you are ready to begin teaching your first year in the classroom, while earning full pay and benefits! For any questions that arise during your first year teaching, you’ll have the support of your Michigan Teachers Field Supervisor to help guide you. Take advantage of having a skilled educator to offer support and advice; they’re there to help!
