MTTC TESTING

All teacher candidates are required to take the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC). The specific test you take is determined by which endorsement area(s) you are pursuing.

PRO TIP: If you are pursuing elementary certification, you may also become certified to teach grades 6-8 by taking subject add-on tests.

 

PRO TIP: If you want to teach grades 6-8, you can take the secondary certification test OR the elementary certification test + a subject add-on test.

The Michigan Department of Education no longer requires that you obtain a CPR and First Aid Certificate. However if the school or district you are hired to teaching requires it, we have provided a list of approved providers below.
