Step 3. Prepare to Teach
The dream is real, and you’re making it happen. Before we go any further… safety first. Before stepping into the classroom, it is essential to earn your CPR and First Aid Certification. This training only takes one day. Complete it, and keep the momentum going.
The exciting part comes next: Classroom Readiness Training. It’s time to start learning what teaching is all about – pedagogy, classroom management, teaching strategies, and much more. If you’d like to preview what you’ll be studying, take a look at the training coursework here.
Our online training is fundamental in helping you evolve into the teacher you want to become. We strive for the best, and we know you do too, which is why we provide you with over 365 hours of online coursework. Take advantage of this information, as it will set you up for success in the classroom.
This step rolls into the next one, which is…
Step 4. Begin Teaching
Teach time! It’s time to get into the classroom and put into practice what you’ve been learning online.
During your first year, you’ll be assigned a Field Supervisor. This person will guide you and answer any questions that arise. You’ll have a lot to tackle your first year, but we know you can do it. Whenever you need extra support, reach out to your Field Supervisor – that’s why they’re there.
After successfully teaching your first two academic semesters, and upon completion of your online training and field experience projects, the end is in sight.
Pending the recommendation of your support team, you will continue to teach for an additional two academic years. For any lingering doubts, your Field Supervisor will periodically check-in virtually. Let’s take a second and tally up the math:
One academic year + two academic years = 3 academic years.
Wow, that happened fast! This means you’re ready for the fourth and final step.
Step 5: Earn Your Certificate
You’ve done it. After your three years of teaching, you can now collect your Letter of Completion along with a Transcript of Coursework. These two items are the ticket to your full Standard Certificate! Meet Michigan’s newest certified teacher.
If you’re ready to make a difference and become one of the many needed Michigan teachers, think no further. Apply today. Train Tomorrow. Teach for the future.
