South Carolina Teachers is committed to helping you accomplish your goal of becoming a teacher. We continually seek ways to offer you more opportunities to make this possible, which is why we are overjoyed to share our newest announcement:

South Carolina Teachers now offers TWO additional certification areas!

  1. Elementary Teacher Certification 
  2. Special Education Teacher Certification

South Carolina Teacher Salary:

Special Education Teachers – Kindergarten and Elementary School (K-Elem) – There are about 4,000 kindergarten and elementary school special education teachers in South Carolina. These teachers earn an average salary of *$56,960. The open rate for Jobs in South Carolina Special Education Teachers in Kindergarten and Elementary will increase by 9% through 2026. This is higher than the growth rate.

FAQ

Do I have to pay my program cost/tuition at the beginning?
No! To get started, all you need to pay your one-time enrollment fee of $295. You pay nothing else until you’re hired as a full-time teacher earning full pay and benefits! Learn more.

How do I enroll?
Our enrollment process is simple so you can get started on your teacher training quickly! For a detailed outline, please watch our “How to Enroll” video.

What GPA do I need to pursue to certification in Special Education or Elementary? 
You must have a GPA of 2.7 or a 2.5-2.74 GPA and passing scores on all sections of the assessment required by the SBE for admission to an undergraduate teacher education program. All other areas require a GPA of 2.5+. Learn more.
