As an Arlington ISD District Select candidate, you’ll work as a substitute in the classroom. Upon obtaining certification from the Texas Teachers of Tomorrow Alternative Certification Program, you will become a teacher of record. The best part? Arlington ISD covers the program fees associated with your alternative certification!

At this time Arlington ISD will only be accepting candidates who secure a recommendation at a high-needs campus and/or in a high-needs content area. These campuses are:

High-Needs Elementary Schools:

  • Anderson ES
  • Berry ES
  • Crow ES
  • Blanton ES
  • Ellis ES
  • Goodman ES
  • Miller ES
  • Patrick ES
  • Peach ES
  • Rankin ES
  • Sherrod ES
  • Short ES

High-Needs Junior High Schools:

  • Carter Jr High School

  • SPED, Bilingual, Math, or Science (Priority Content Areas)

*Approval from HR is required for the content area(s) outside of high-needs.

To have your program fees covered by Arlington ISD, you must apply online with the district, be offered and accept a position, and be chosen by Arlington ISD to participate in their District Select cohort.

If chosen to participate in the Arlington ISD District Select program, your program fees will be covered 100%. You will also receive the benefits listed above.

No, not all candidates hired by Arlington ISD will have their fees covered. District Select candidates are chosen at the discretion of the district and spaces are limited. Some candidates hired with the district may be required to pay their own program fees monthly once hired and on a certificate.

Arlington ISD will notify you if you are chosen as a District Select participant.
