When Are You Looking To Get Hired?

To qualify for an SOE, you must pass the required TExES content exam(s) for your desired certification area, complete all Required Courses, and 30 Field-Based Experiences hours. Please refer to your Intern Portal to review the 'What’s Next Checklist' and Training Progress page for more info. Once all required items show a checkmark, your SOE will auto-populate and be available for download.

Are you planning to pursue one of the following subject areas:

(1) Core Subjects 4-8
(2) Core Subjects EC-6
(3) English Language Arts and Reading 4-8
(4) English Language Arts and Reading/Social Studies 4-8

TEA mandates that you must also pass the 293 Science of Teaching Reading Exam to demonstrate subject matter knowledge. Please refer to your Intern Portal to review the 'What’s Next Checklist' and Training Progress page for more info. Once all required items show a checkmark, your SOE will auto-populate and be available for download.

Complete Your Pre-Service Training


When you complete your Pre-Service Training, you will be provided with your Statement of Eligibility (SOE); a document which verifies your eligibility to start teaching! Keep in mind that your requirements are based on which subject area you are pursuing to teach, and when you began the program. To verify your specific remaining requirements, please refer to your ‘What’s Next Checklist’ in your Intern Portal, or take our interactive quiz above!

Test preparation is an essential component to helping you prepare for the classroom. We encourage you to register and secure your testing date as soon as possible, as many testing centers have limited availability and are operating at reduced capacity. Even if you are not yet prepared to take your test, register for it now.

Finish all pre-service courses listed in the Training Progress section of your Intern Portal to keep track of your progress. You must complete all courses listed under the ‘Required Courses’ tab.

Field-Based Experience (FBE) hours are reflective observations of EC-12 students, teachers, and faculty/staff members engaging in educational activities in a school setting. You must complete 30 Field-Based Experience (FBE) Hours*
