The Alabama State Department of Education

The Alabama Department of Education requires each teacher candidate to pass the Praxis Subject Assessment Exam (content tests) for the appropriate certification area.

Middle school teachers (Grades 4-8) will take the Alabama Praxis Subject Assessment prior to admission for the content-specific area below:

Praxis Testing

Teachers seeking certification in Alabama are required to take the Subject Assessment Exam prior to admission into the Alabama Teachers of Tomorrow certification approach. You must take and submit passing scores before gaining enrollment eligibility. The test you take depends on the certification area and grade level you are intending to teach.
