Stay Updated On Changes

From our extended Teachers of Tomorrow family to yours, we hope you and your loved one are safe and healthy. While we are currently working from home to promote the continued health of our employees, we are still operational and committed to our mission of helping you become a teacher. During this time, we are thrilled to see many Texans stepping up and making the decision to become a teacher! We are absolutely here to support you, but please note that we are currently experiencing a high call volume. Our normal response time may be delayed – but rest assured – not halted. We are committed to getting back in touch with you, as soon as we’re able! We thank you for your support and patience during this time.

We are dedicated to keeping you informed with the latest updates regarding COVID-19. We aim to provide you with clear information and will continue to release new updates on this page.

For enrolled candidates in our program, we are aware of how disruptive school closures may be to your current progression. We are working with state officials, district and campus administration, and individuals within the organization to determine the best path forward. Continue working on all online components of program requirements. For program-specific questions, please contact a Program Advisor.

For interested applicants, we are here for you! Please continue to apply as usual and a dedicated team member will be reaching out to you.

LATEST UPDATE, 10/01/2020:
TEA TExES Exam Waiver Expires

Governor Abbott released a groundbreaking update, which temporarily allowed candidates to be issued an Intern Certificate before passing a content test. This test waiver expired on October 1, 2020. To learn more about the current requirements to become eligible for hire, please click here to read the full update.

Here is what is important to know right now:

  • We are here for you.
  • We are still open.
  • We are not currently accepting walk-in visits.
  • We are grateful for your support!

Information for Current Candidates in Pre-Service Phase:

  • In order for you to be eligible for hire for an intern certificate for the 2020/2021 school year, complete 30 Field-Based Experience (FBE) hours, and all required coursework listed in the training progress section of your intern portal.
  • As of May 1st, some Pearson VUE-owned in-person testing centers have started to re-open! Space will be limited, so if you are waiting to sit for an exam, schedule it ASAP.
  • Due to a waiver by Governor Abbott, all 30 FBE hours may now be completed online. Log in to your intern portal-Training Progress, and search for the course titled “Field Experience and Reflection.”

Certificate Requirements:

On April 23rd, 2020, The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released new updates to accommodate completing your Certificate during the time of COVID-19. These updates apply for those candidates already on an intern certificate which was scheduled to be completed in Spring 2020 that have NOT passed the PPR exam yet. Please review these scenarios closely to determine which category you are in and steps to take:

PPR Exam NOT Passed and Incomplete Coursework

  • TEA will only issue a one-year Probationary Certificate to candidates who have completed all other program requirements, with the exception of the PPR Exam.
  • If you have incomplete coursework (includes required courses, elective courses, and projects), you must finish by June 1, 2020 (including receiving approval for the PPR Exam from Texas Teachers), to be eligible to have your Probationary Certificate recommended.
  • The deadline is approaching, so you must be timely and diligent. Please reach out to a Program Advisor if you are unsure of the remaining requirements at covid19hire@texasteachers.org.
  • Apply for your Probationary Certificate through your TEA account no later than June 1, 2020. Choose A+ Texas Teachers as the recommending entity.
  • After you apply, Texas Teachers of Tomorrow will verify that you have completed your requirements and recommend you for your Probationary Certificate no later than June 15th.
  • You will then have one year to pass your PPR exam, while on your probationary certificate.
  • Once passed, please notify us and apply for your Standard Certificate through your TEA account.

PPR Exam PASSED and Incomplete Coursework

  • If you have incomplete coursework (includes requires courses, elective courses, and projects), you must finish all items BEFORE your intern certificate expires (check your TEA account for the date) to be eligible to have your Standard Certificate recommended.
  • Apply for your Standard Certificate through your TEA account. Choose A+ Texas Teachers as the recommending entity.
  • After you apply, Texas Teachers will begin recommending candidates for their Standard Certificate starting in June or once all remaining requirements are complete (including your program balance being paid).

PPR Exam PASSED and All Coursework Complete

  • If you are unsure if all coursework is complete (includes requires courses, elective courses, and projects), please email teach@texasteachers.org so a program advisor can review your account.

Should you have further questions, the best way to get in touch with us is via email at teach@texasteachers.org or by calling us at 877-888-2640, option 2.
