Next up in our campaign is Vincent Martell, a 2020–2024 Teachers of Tomorrow graduate who teaches 4th grade across all core subjects. His journey from restaurant manager to classroom leader is a testament to the power of determination and heart.
Meet Vincent Martell
Teaches: 4th Grade – Math, Reading, Social Studies, Science & Writing
State: Nevada
Program Completed: 2021–2024
A Role Model for His Son
Vincent’s motivation came from wanting to set a strong example for his young son.
“I wanted to do something more rewarding than restaurant management. I wanted to show my son that whatever you put your mind to, you can accomplish.”
Teachers of Tomorrow helped him return to academic life with confidence after a 25-year break.
“The coursework was detailed, and I learned things I still use today. It gave me the confidence that I could do this.”
Teaching in a Changing World
Vincent has adapted to changes in education, curriculum, and student needs year after year.
“As a teacher, you need to evolve. Students change from year to year, and districts adjust their curriculum—you have to adapt.”
One of his proudest moments? Hearing from former students years later.
“Getting emails from old students asking how I’m doing means more to me than anything else.”
Fueled by Growth and Grit
Vincent finds motivation in the progress his students make and the relationships they build.
“My competitive nature kicks in when I see students grow and care about their learning. That’s what drives me.”
His advice to others considering teaching:
“Become teachable. Take on professional development and always look to grow.”
Thank You, Vincent
