Following a trend of Arizona and then Texas teacher pay raises, Florida Governor Desantis has proposed a Florida teacher pay raise moving the starting salary from $37,636 to $47,500 – a pretty substantial move.  This would make Florida number 2 in the nation in starting teacher salaries.

That will cost the state over $422 million so it is by no means a done deal – but it has a lot of support and the state has seen that pay raises to impact teacher recruitment.

Our Arizona Teachers program saw a 40% increase in applications after the pay raise. And our Texas Teachers program is also showing a significant increase in new applicants after the teacher pay raise.

So we applaud the new teacher pay proposal from Governor Desantis and look forward to reducing the current Florida teacher shortage down from 4,000 this year to nothing in the future!
