New study out on the lack of diversity in the teaching workforce where “while minority children account for half of the nation’s student body in public schools, minority teachers make up just 18 percent of the workforce, creating a significant disparity.”
It is interesting that the article does not mention alternative teacher certification as a possible solution since this study shows that we have 46% minority teachers coming out of our program.
The lack of diversity in teaching is well known – the fact that people keep pointing it out is not a solution. Expanding a program that is proven to address the situation is a real solution.
